Fin Blanks
Gift Guide
Buying fins for a surfer?
You do not need to know anything about surfing. You just need to answer two questions.
1. What board do they ride?
Longboard or mid-length (the big ones, 8 foot and up) - they need a longboard fin. Single fin, bolts into a slot in the centre of the board. We include the hardware.
Fish, twin fin, or retro shape (shorter, wider, usually two fins) - they need either twin fins or keel fins. Keels are wider and more forgiving - if you are not sure, go keel. Sold as a pair.
Not sure? Look at the bottom of their board. One fin slot in the middle = longboard. Two slots near the tail = twin or keel.
2. What fin system?
This is the shape of the slot in the board. You need to match it.
US Box - one long slot, common on longboards. All our longboard fins fit this.
Futures - a flat-bottomed slot. Our twin fins and keel fins use this system. Most modern twin-fin boards use Futures.
If you do not know, take a photo of the bottom of their board and email it to hello@finblanks.com. We will tell you exactly which fin to buy.
3. Pick a colour
This is the fun part. We have up to 16 colours. Pick their favourite, match their board, or just go with what looks good. Every fin is hand-finished fibreglass with a translucent colour layup.
Will it arrive in time?
All fins are made to order and ship in 5-7 business days. Australian delivery is 3-7 days after that. For express delivery, select express shipping at checkout.
